I do not have time for phone calls. I try to be as personable as possible, however there is simply no time in the day because I have multiple sessions a day. I cannot be on the phone and in sessions at the same time.
I am a photographer. I am not a customer service agent for a huge company. I would hire a customer service agent, but I believe in paying for a living wage and I cannot afford $30 an hour at this time. Until I can afford a full time assistant because we have an extra $62,400 a year to spare, you are stuck with me and my fabulous text convos with me. And if you think $62.4k is too much for an administrative assistant/customer service agent, then you my friend, are wrong. We live in Miami The average rent is $2k a month. I will not have any employee of mine struggling or needing government assistant if I can help it.
Everything I could say in a phone call could be achieved in a text convo. It is super helpful for me to have a record of transcript available for me to review. Also, I dont have time for phone calls.
Imagine! If i took 3 to 5 minutes per 20-30 calls I get. That is 2.5 hours a day in potential phone calls to answer questions that are already answered in my calendar and website.
Ah, my first review..
It was a terrible experience.
It was back in 2017 and a client came to her 30 minute baby session and recieved over 200 beautiful images of her little boy. Jennifer, that is her name.. a nurse at Baptist Hospital, a "healer" was so upset that her 30 minute session was in fact 30 minutes, and that every single of the 200 gorgeous images was not perfect. Because here at NLP, we give you every single picture. The good, the bad, the mediocre. My favorite image is NEVER your favorite image, since we see that same image in different perspectives.
Anyway, Jennifer was soooo mad at me that she decided to create a Yelp page on my behalf SIMPLY to complain about how horrible my company is. Jessica was the photographer. I wasn't even there. Alas, my company so my review. Up until 2017, no one has ever been motivated to create my Yelp page to tell everyone how amazing I am. And that is ok with me! I know my clients are happy cause they refer their friends and family to me who also leave happy and the chain of love continues. However, Jennifer is a bad person. I complained to Yelp, telling them she stole my identity and created my company page on my behalf. Of course Yelp, being the evil company that they are, told me that they wont remove my company cause it's their policy to allow people like Jennifer to steal my company name. Yelp's "solution" was for me to get more positive reviews to balance Jennifer's review. Except, I don't want to badger my clients for reviews. I am very content with the current level of feedback I receive because I track my referrals.
All this to say, I do not like internet review platforms. The people who give me bad reviews are by and large people who were not clients. They were unhappy people demanding a service from me that I do not provide. I closed my business on Yelp and Google. I decided to take the gamble and not receive too many "off the street clients" because of my unique business structure of self-service and online information. People who do not know how my business is structured is more likely to ask me a question I already answered or ask for discounts or ask for an exception to one of my very clear policies.
Jennifer, you were the beginning of my nightmare. I do not know how people like you spend time trying to let the whole world about your "bad experience" yet never yell from the rooftop how amazing a service is.
Reading random negative reviews really upset me. So I closed my business on Google. I am open.
Let me be super upfront with you.
I am such a softy. I always say I am a terrible businessperson because I am understanding to a fault.
That does immediately go away the minute someone starts to be rude to me. I can't and won't handle it. I spent 13 years in the government and have reached a point that I will absolutely not tolerate inconsiderate people. I have messed up before and any client will tell you that I will happily redo a session if I did something wrong. I always own up to my mistakes. But what happens next depends on how you treat me (or Jessica). I am a fan of the "block" feature. I used to put up with a lot of client abuse, in fear they will try to smear my name. No more. Since 2013, my company has photographed a little over 6,000 families.
Oh and the very very few people who decide to give me a negative review because they got exactly what they paid for and they wanted more, do not bother reaching out to me years later because your harddrive crashed. I will release the images to your session to your child upon their 18th birthday. I have no obligation to resend galleries. I do archive them and will have them as long as I am alive, but I absolutey will stand by my company and my principles. I am a person and will not be treated like some hobbyist photographer trying to make side money. This is my profession and if you at some point get upset, best to tell me like an adult versus throwing an internet tantrum.
My son between my legs while I work haha
